Maria Wolfram

► Maria Wolfram draws on mythology, folklore, and contemporary imagery to create paintings that are droll and uncomely, perplexing, and compellingly beautiful in their mischievous subversions of traditional narratives of womanhood. Her art is experimental, consisting of painted canvases, installations and sculptural ensembles combining various materials, textiles and paintings. Wolfram has held over 30 solo exhibitions since 1998 and she has taken part in nearly 70 group shows in over twenty countries from Europe to Israel, Brazil, the United States, China, and Japan.
