Taidehistoria menee metsään! (Art History Deep in the Woods) is a volume dedicated to art, art scholarship and museology. Artists, artworks, collecting, and art history are among the topics addressed in this comprehensive and topical anthology of essays published in conjunction with an art history seminar hosted biennially by the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation and the Serlachius Museums in Mänttä. The seminar provides a forum for current art history research, bringing together experts, deepening knowledge about Finnish art, and improving accessibility to Finnish art scholarship also outside university cities. This publication sheds new light on the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation’s collection, which comprises old European art, Finnish art of the ‘Golden Age’, and contemporary art. The anthology was produced in cooperation with the Society for Art History in Finland, and it is published in the peer-reviewed Art History Studies publication series.
