► Vilnius-born and Paris-based Esther Shalev-Gerz (b. 1948) is a subtle concept artist. In her photographic and video works she investigates how cultural identities are constructed and examines the role and status of traditional professions in a world that is global and undergoing a rapid digital transformation.
The book comprises six interviewing series of works. All these works in their individual ways deal with work, its meanings, memories of it, and experiences associated with it, and more broadly with the post-industrial world where modes of work and production have undergone revolution.
The book is edited by art critic and curator Timo Valjakka and it is published in association with the Serlachius Museums.
