► Villa Gyllenberg in the Helsinki district of Kuusisaari is known today as an art museum and historic residence, but from 1938 to 1977 – for nearly forty years – it was the private home of Signe and Ane Gyllenberg. Accompanied by a rich compliment of illustrations, this volume tells the colourful story of how the Gyllenbergs became collectors, how the museum came into existence, and what daily life was like in the villa. The architecture, garden, interiors, art collection and antiques mirror their period and the changing lifestyles, values, and aesthetic tastes of their day. Villa Gyllenberg – Ett hem på Granö (At Home in Kuusisaari) shares a wealth of previously unpublished findings on this distinctive, scenically located villa and its priceless collection of antiques and furniture. The art collection on display in the villa represents a selection of masterpieces from the Golden Age of Finnish art and old European art from the 16th to the 18thcentury.
